Type 1 Asbestos Removal Work
Type 1 asbestos removal work applies to worksites of 1-10 square feet. In Type 1 projects, we remove all non-friable asbestos-filled materials. Past projects included floor and ceiling tiles. In Type 1, you can expect some construction work such as drilling and sanding.
While undertaking Type 1 projects, we’ll also seal all asbestos waste in polyethylene disposal bags. We’ll also clean the worksite using High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) vacuums. Our staff are equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Type 2 Asbestos Removal Work
Type 2 asbestos removal work applies to worksites of 10-100 square feet. If we require access to your building’s piping, wall and/or ceiling, then your asbestos removal project will fall under Type 2. Construction work (e.g. drilling and breaking) is to be expected.
We’re also required to seal Type 2 sites with barriers. In addition, our PPE-equipped workers will use HEPA vacuums for cleaning and dispose all asbestos in airtight polyethylene disposal bags.
Type 3 Asbestos Removal Work
Type 3 – i.e. 100+ square-feet – involves the most complex asbestos removal projects. These are generally reserved for commercial and asbestos removal projects. Our construction tasks could include demolition, significant repair work and structural changes to your building.
Ferro Environmental PPE-equipped workers will use HEPA vacuums to clean the site as well as dispose asbestos using polyethylene bags. However, Type 3 operations also require us to fully enclose the worksite and to install decontamination spaces for our workers.
